I am a Quantitative Analyst in OCBC Bank, Market Risk Management. Our team’s main responsibility is model validation, where we validate cross-asset pricing models on platforms used by the bank and ensure its appropriateness, correctness of implementation, and identification/impact assessment of gaps. We also extend quantitative expertise in areas such as quantification of credit exposures and statistical analysis in support of various regulatory-driven projects.

His Message to SMU QF Alumni:

As a SMU QF alumnus, you are part of the SMU QF family. Even as you graduate from SMU and go on to build your career, I hope you continue to stay in touch with and contribute to the community, keeping the bond strong amongst your friends, batch mates, professors and students (future alumni)! Together, we can create win-win outcomes for everyone and showcase the strength and uniqueness of QF in SMU.

I am currently working in M&A and investments covering commodities. Also an investor and advisor in a Singapore-based food manufacturing startup. Grateful for the opportunities and doors that were opened as a result of Master of Science in Quantitative Finance.

His message to SMU QF Alumni:

When we were in school, the quantitative finance major was always special because it was very different from every other majors. We were also the smallest cohorts, but we have never let that stopped us from doing great things together. If your schedule allows, and your heart willing, please consider joining us in the committee or participate in the events that we have planned.

MARC SONG JIASHUN (BBM 2013)

DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRY RELATIONS

What is he doing now?

I am working as an eFX trader at Natwest Markets. My role is to ensure that prices are constantly being streamed to our clients and to operate algorithms to risk manage the flows. With the paradigm shift towards technology in banking, I am required to work with a global team of technologists, traders and quants to automate processes and improve the algorithms.

His message to SMU QF Alumni:

Never stop learning. Your degree provides you with the platform to acquire more knowledge, but it is not the end of your education. Stay hungry for knowledge, and open your mind to ideas.
