NEW! The SMU Alumni Mentorship Program

You’ve got your dream job. You’re the perfect person for students to speak with and help new graduates find the field that’s right for them. Share your knowledge with current students and help them make the transition from university to work.

It is with great excitement that we launch our pilot SMU Alumni Mentorship Program. This initiative forms part of the SMU Alumni Association's (SMUAA) mission to support, engage, and give back to the SMU community. Organised together with the SMU Alumni Relations Office, we hope this creates a platform for building a nurturing relationship between alumni and students and fostering a greater sense of belonging towards our University.

There is no better opportunity now to engage the SMU community and to give back to the university. We are looking for committed alumni to become mentors and warmly invite, and challenge you to be part of this ground-breaking initiative for years to come.

Objectives of the SMU Alumni Mentorship Program

To provide SMU students with an opportunity to learn from an alumni's experiences, personal insights, knowledge, and know-how

To encourage the development of a network of contacts

To provide SMU students with guidance in defining their personal career and other developmental objectives

To help individuals reach their full potential by giving back to the SMU community

Programme format*
3 get-together events organised by the SMUAA
Recommended contact time of 15 hours over 15 weeks (email, phone, meet-ups) , including a minimum of 2 ‘face-to-face' meet-ups between alumni mentor and student mentee

* Alumni mentors may be required to complete a training workshop to familiarise themselves with the mentorship program
