SMU Alumni UK Chapter

CHINESE NEW YEAR IN LONDON!

We are pleased to welcome Annie Soh (BBM, Graduating Class of 2004), Elsie Lin (BAcc, Graduating Class of 2005) and Sheryl Ang, (BAcc, Graduting Class of 2006) to our UK family and are sad to bid farewell to Eileen Lai (BAcc, Graduating Class of 2006), Alex, Valerie, Alwyn (all from the Graduating Class of 2007) and Evelynn (Graduating Class of 2007) who have returned to Singapore.

Chinese New Year happens to be on a Thursday and thus the Chinese SMU Alumni have to work through this festive season. Nevertheless, we were able to gather for a reunion feast at alum Elsie Lin's house during the weekend of the Chinese New Year. Courtesy of Charles, Elsie and her Singaporean roommate, Debbie, there was delicious food such as fried nian gao, pineapple tarts, shabu-shabu beef and pork, king prawns and the list goes on … It was a day of fun and games and fantastic food as we played Taboo and feasted on the Chinese “delicacies”.

From L-R: Front Row - Elsie, Charles, Declan (non-alum); Back Row - Sheryl, Victor, Anna, and Debbie (non-alum).

Coming up next- A weekend road trip to Cornwall, a beautiful southwestern English county famous for its beautiful coastline and Cornish Pasty. Weather forecast: Mainly cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain expected across all parts at first. (Keeping our fingers cross for some pleasant weather).

SMU Alumni UK Chapter Contact Information

If you’re in, or are planning to visit the UK (either for a short trip or to stay), please feel free to contact the UK Chapter via its Chapter President Elsie Lin (BAcc, Graduating Class of 2005) at alumni_uk@smu.edu.sg. Elsie and her team believe that the strength of an alumni chapter is in its members, and they hope that they can reach out to more alumni and students.

As the UK Chapter grows in strength and diversity, Elsie and her team hope to organize more activities such as tours and networking sessions.
