Your SMU Alumni Association (SMUAA) membership entitles you to a variety of privileges.

The list of privileges will continue to grow as the SMUAA and the Alumni Relations Office continue to enhance the value of membership to serve you better.

Li Ka Shing Library Membership Privileges - Loan Privileges

Enjoy the Li Ka Shing Library membership privileges when you sign up for the SMUAA membership with Library Add-on. Centrally located on the City Campus, the library offers a range of work spaces – quiet individual carrels, project rooms for group discussions, open spaces for individual or collaborative use and a cafe conveniently located within the building. Bring your laptop to enjoy the convenience of wireless internet access*.   

The Li Ka Shing Library Membership gives you the following privileges including:

• Borrowing of up to 6 books or materials from the Lending Collection.
• Course Reserve materials are available upon request at the Library's Help Desk. Course Reserve materials are only available for a 2-hour maximum on-site loan.
• Photocopy machines are also available for your use.
• Databases can be accessed both on-site and off-site. The list of databases can be viewed here.

SMUAA members without a Library Add-on have walk-in access only to the Li Ka Shing Library. You can tap your membership card to enter.

Non-SMUAA members are requested to register at the library security desk. 

Sports and Recreational Facilities

The SMUAA membership with Gym & Pool Add-on allows you to lead a healthier lifestyle!

Enjoy unlimited use of the SMU sports facilities* including a 25-metre Swimming Pool and state of the art Gymnasium equipped with the most modern cardiovascular, fitness and weight training equipment. In addition, a Spin Room and a Dance Room have been added to the Gymnasium. >> Facilities

Stay in touch with your friends by signing up together for recreational classes such as yoga, pilates, kickboxing at nominal fees.

Facilities Booking

Selected SMU City Campus facilities are available for bookings by alumni. If you are an SMUAA member, you enjoy preferred booking rates. Alumni are advised to enquire and make bookings directly with the SMU Leasing Business Unit. Bookings must be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Career services support is available for a period of ONE year upon graduation. The support includes access to OnTrac service and exclusive invitations to new job opportunities offered by SMU’s business partners.

Also, take time to attend social, professional and social networking events organised by the SMUAA and Alumni Relations Office – opportunities that allow you to establish industry contacts, meet fellow Alumni and friends of SMU. Other SMUAA events that will be coming your way may include the ‘Let's Catch Up’ series, professional development courses, overseas trips, sporting activities, opportunities to be on the interviewers’ panel for the SMU Alumni Scholarship, Chill-Out sessions and many more ….

Your SMUAA membership card is your passport to special discounts and benefits on campus and through other merchant tie-ups established by the SMUAA.

Card Privileges: Enjoy privileges offered at selected SMU retail outlets and SMUAA partners when you flash your SMUAA membership card.

SMU Membership/Access Card: SMUAA members will also receive a SMUAA Membership/Access Card that will allow access to selected SMU facilities, one of which is the new University Lounge (Level 6, Administration Building)

Wireless Internet Access: Start surfing in the heart of the city via SMU wireless internet network. Exclusive to SMUAA members only.

Preferred Parking Rates at SMU Carpark, Admin Building : Enjoy preferred parking rates at the SMU Carpark, Administration Building. SMUAA Members who have opted for a SMUAA membership with Preferred Carpark Rates Add-on can register for preferred parking rates upon approval of their membership.
