Overseas Chapters

The SMU Alumni Association supports its members' initiatives in establishing chapters. Chapters allow alumni to connect with others who share a similar profession, culture, or geographic location. Chapter members enjoy the benefits of both the Alumni Association as well as their own chapter.

If you currently reside in a country with a local chapter you will be automatically added to that chapter. Or - if you are temporarily relocating to a country with a chapter you can temporarily join that chapter. Contact Amelia Lim (Alumni Relations Office) to be included in the mailing list.

Starting a Chapter
Assistance will be provided to overseas alumni who wish to establish an alumni chapter in their place of residence. If you wish to champion such a programme, please contact us at alumni@smu.edu.sg or review the How to Start a Chapter Guide (PDF)

UK Chapter

SMU is seeing an increasing number of alumni moving overseas to work. Therefore, the SMU Alumni UK Chapter was established in May 2007 to provide SMU graduates who are working and living in the United Kingdom with numerous opportunities to network among the alumni and build useful work & social contacts.
The Chapter's goal is to put alumni in contact with one another and with the University. Traveling Faculty and Exchange students (in bound into UK and out bound of UK ) are also welcome to join us. For alumni who are moving to UK particularly London, please feel free to contact us if we could be of any help. And there are of course no membership fees! To help us keep connected, please remember to update your particulars here .

Dubai Chapter

Alum Wong Wai Hon joined Standard Chartered Bank in Dubai in 2007, and started a new SMU Overseas Alumni Chapter in the city. The Dubai Alumni Chapter is a networking platform for all SMU graduates living in Dubai.

The SMU Alumni Dubai Chapter had a chance to welcome students from the university’s International Trading Track in August 2008. The gathering was graced by Mr Dileep Nair, Singapore Consul-General in Dubai. Mr Dileep shared with the students his views on the sustainability of growth in the United Arab Emirates and mentioned that in order for the country to sustain its growth, it has to rely on the locals.

The chapter President and two chapter members also spoke with students about working and living in the city.
