Sharon is a second year economics student, with a double major in finance. Studies aside, she is actively involved in SMU activities. Through SMU Squash, she finally fulfilled her dream of learning to play the unique racquet sport. Her love for it, although she has yet to master the game, led her to serve the club as its Finance Director.
Sharon's true passion lies in entrepreneurship. Inspired by professors and people she met at SMU Business Innovation Generator (SMU BIG), she has embarked on a new start-up journey. She is grateful to SMU for the life-changing impact it has on her and decided to give back to the school through her current role as a SMU Ambassador.

Joel Ng Yi Kang typifies the SMU sportsperson. Being on Team SMU Dragon Boat has enabled him to develop a sense of determination, perseverance and commitment.
This second-year BSc (Econ) student was the Events Manager of SSU, where he helmed logistics for SMU Waikiki and was the chairperson for Sports Fiesta. In the near future, he is looking forward to leading a team to the Philippines on community service.
Joel hopes to encourage more involvement among alumni in key events such as the OCIP, where they can play a pivotal role as mentors and advisors to students. He believes that alumni have important roles even after they leave the University. They can share practical tips on working life with students and at the same time, demonstrate to parents of potential students the value of an SMU degree.
He is delighted to receive the SMUAA-OCBC Scholarship and pledges to be an ambassador of the association. He is keen to take this opportunity to demonstrate to peers, potential students and the SMU community that it is possible to enjoy campus activities while undertaking a full academic load.
