Alumni Scholar 2008 – Shivaka Mansata

A third year BBM student majoring in Finance and Economics, Shivaka Mansata bubbles with enthusiasm, creativity, and wants to make a difference during her time at SMU

Originally from India, she has been performing consistently well in her studies and was on the Dean’s List for the past two years. She is actively involved in the OUA International Ambassadors programme and Stageit. She had a year-long stint with the Southeast CDC where she worked with youths from low-income families. This experience made her realise that she needs to make a difference in society.

Shivaka believes that a fundamental step forward for alumni is to communicate more frequently with its stakeholders – fellow alumni, students, parents, staff, and faculty. She also recommends establishing a student body to facilitate communication with alumni and students. This will help develop a sense of community and instill the spirit of giving back to their alma mater when they graduate.

She is the second recipient of the SMU Alumni Scholarship.
