The SMU Alumni Scholarship Fund is an initiative of the pioneering batches of SMU graduates under the SMU Alumni Association (SMUAA) and supported by the Office of Advancement and Alumni (OAA). Contributions to this fund established the SMU-Alumni Scholarship.

The purpose of the fund is to award a scholarship to an outstanding but financially disadvantaged student every year. Contributions came mainly from alumni, faculty and staff, and parents of alumni. The fund reached its target of $200,000 in 2006 and is endowed to award a scholarship valued at $6,000 every year.
